3 reasons why I love Madrid
When I think about Madrid, I smile to myself and wonder when I will be able to visit this beautiful city again. Madrid has a special charm.
I am a painter who loves to travel, so I decided to connect these two passions and this is how The Art &Travel project has started (if you want to support my project click here to read more)
My quick stop in Madrid was in June 2017, I think this is a perfect time to go there, the weather was beautiful. I spent only (but how charming..) 24h in Madrid and I know that I have to back to this beautiful city as soon as possible. Let me tell you why..
1. Cosmopolitan city full of beautiful streets & architecture
Madrid is very cosmopolitan and sophisticated city with gorgeous architecture and history, art and culture activities. I think this a perfect place for city lovers, the perfect place for the romantic weekend or getaway with friends.
The city is beautiful and green, streets are clean. The architecture is breathtaking. The people are beautiful, friendly, helpful and welcoming. The food is extremely delicious.
But there is only one, big problem with Madrid…choosing what to do!? Too many beautiful places to see!! It’s impossible to do everything in one trip, but actually, it’s a good news, because this is a perfect reason to visit this charming city again.
2. City of gardens and palaces
Madrid’s gardens and parks cover an area of over 250,000 hectares of the city, also more than 248,000 trees are planted along the city’s streets! Also, you can find unique historical gardens like for example – Royal Botanic Garden -8-hectare with total collections include about 30,000 plants and flowers, and 1,500 trees from all over the world.
Did you know that Madrid is home to 12 palaces? If you love palaces you have to go to Madrid. Some of them are located on hidden streets, around the corner, and even a little outside of the city. If you have visited all the other big attractions and sights in Madrid, you should check out the many beautiful palaces rich in history and culture. List of palaces you can find here.
The Royal Palace of Madrid is the most famous palace and is so majestic. You can also walk around the lovely Sabatini Gardens.
How could I forget about art?
Museo del Prado is one of the most important in the world. This museum’s art collections are based on the former Spanish Royal Collection and consist of thousands of paintings, sculptures, prints, and drawings.
And you have to know that not only the inside makes this museum so famous. This elegant building is surrounded by beautiful gardens. This museum is an absolute must-see during your trip to Madrid. Ticket for adult costs
During my short trip, I was using the Mytaxi app, the subway is also the good idea. You will get all information and maps in the information point on the airport, but my luggage was too heavy, so I decided to use a taxi. The price from the airport is constant – 30 euro (2017).
I was staying in apartments – Malasana, great location, very clean rooms, including a kitchen. No breakfast, but around you will find many nice breakfast spots.
